Contract Manager

 

Position Overview:

  • Responsible for reviewing, managing, and optimizing contracts with manufacturer pharmacy services.

Department:

Business Development

 

Reports to:

VP of Business Development

 

Education / Licensing Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in contract management

  • 2+ years’ experience with contract management systems preferred

  • Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), or similar certification preferred.

  • Experience with specialty pharmacy or healthcare-related field preferred.

 

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’sdegree in Business Administration or related field

  • Contract lifecycle management expertise

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build consensus and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) & contract management software

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, finance, accounting, business development, payer relations, operations and procurement teams to review and execute agreements

  • General knowledge of legal regulatory and compliance requirements, including Fair Market Value

  • Strong understanding of pharma manufacturer agreement terms and processes (or similar)

  • Ability to interpret contract language, analyze financial and operational implications (with cross-functional reviews), and propose practical solutions to mitigate risk

  • Time management skills & ability to create a structured process for contract deliverables

Responsibilities

  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full contractlifecycle—from initial request, drafting, and negotiation through execution, renewal, and closeout—ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage.

  • Drafting and Review: Prepare, review, and redline a varietyof agreements (e.g., NDA, MSA, SOWs, Purchase Agreements, Data Agreements) toensure alignment with company policies and objectives.

  • Negotiation: Support contract negotiations with externalpartners, balancing business needs (with input from Business Development), legal risk (with input from GC), and compliance requirements.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential contractual risks andpropose strategies to minimize exposure while supporting organizational goals.

  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure all contracts meet legal, regulatory, and company standards; maintain up-to-date awareness of relevantlaws and policies. Bring potential issues to leadership when applicable.

  • Collaboration and Coordination: Partner cross-functionallywith legal, finance, accounting, business development, payer relations, operations, procurement, and project management teams to align on terms andensure smooth contract execution.

  • Recordkeeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate andorganized contract files, databases, and version control within the contractmanagement system.

  • Performance Monitoring: Track contract deliverables, obligations, and key dates (e.g., renewals, expirations) to ensure complianceand timely action.

  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and refinecontract management processes, templates, and workflows to improve efficiencyand reduce turnaround time.

  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports andsummaries on contract status, risks, and metrics for leadership review and decision-making.

  • Confidentiality and Ethics: Handle all contract-relatedinformation with the highest level of integrity, professionalism, and respectfor confidentiality.

  • Yearly Fair Market Value (FMV) refresh and FMV analysis on current contracts



Working Conditions

  • In-office minimum four days per week

  • Minimum travel, less than 10%

  • Fast-paced environment.

  • Requires normal vision (corrected), both close and distant.

  • Requires normal hearing levels (corrected).

  • Requires working at a desk to use a phone and computer for extended periods of time. Requires sitting and bending.
