Pharmacy Configuration Specialist

Position Overview
The Pharmacy Configuration Specialist supports clinical operations through the configuration, maintenance, and ongoing optimization of pharmacy systems. This role is responsible for building and updating system content, maintaining configuration accuracy, and supporting safe, efficient workflows across specialty pharmacy clinical programs.
The Pharmacy Configuration Specialist ensures system configurations are thoroughly tested prior to deployment and align with clinical, operational, and contractual requirements. Working under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services and with guidance from the Pharmacy Systems Coordinator, this individual collaborates cross-functionally to implement system enhancements, improve operational efficiency, and maximize patient care outcomes.
Education & Licensing

Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
Experience
-
2-4 years of specialty pharmacy experience preferred.

1-2 years of experience configuring specialty pharmacy systems or specialty pharmacy programs preferred.

Familiarity with the organization's proprietary pharmacy system preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
System Configuration & Maintenance
-
Configure and maintain pharmacy system content based on clinical, operational, and contractual requirements.

Support configuration of new products, therapies, and specialty programs, including system build, validation, and testing.

Perform routine and ad hoc updates to drug, disease, and program configurations.

Update system-generated triggers and workflows under the guidance of senior clinical leadership.

Collaborate with Business Development to ensure contractual program configurations and enhanced service programs function as intended.
Content & Documentation

Maintain repositories for drug and disease information, ICD-10 disease crosswalks, and clinical content.

Create and update configuration documentation, procedures, and job aids.

Participate in routine reviews of clinical programs to ensure alignment with approved policies and procedures.

Update provider enrollment forms and website content when new medications, formulations, or dosing changes occur.
Testing & Quality Assurance

Partner with Software Development and internal stakeholders to implement and launch new system functionality.

Utilize the organization's ticketing system to document system enhancements and configuration requests.

Identify opportunities to improve system configurability and long-term operational efficiency.

Execute testing for new builds, enhancements, and configuration updates prior to production release.

Identify configuration issues, inconsistencies, or errors and escalate them appropriately.

Assist with troubleshooting configuration-related system issues.
Additional Responsibilities

Participate in staff meetings, conference calls, and departmental meetings.

Serve as a member of the Clinical Review Committee, identifying opportunities for continuous quality improvement.
